The system generates tax reports, and you choose whether to:

Extremely flexible time entry and processing methods

Paying employees has never been so easy! Choose to enter pay from timesheets, pull hours directly from your time clock*, or set up and use payroll defaults, making pay entry automatic for each pay run. You can enter pay for salaried and hourly employees separately, or even copy pay from previous pay runs.

*CenterPoint can work with most time clocks that can export an ASCII File format.

It can be used as a standalone system, along with your own general ledger, or with one of Red Wing Software's accounting products. Labor can be tracked in many ways, so you can quickly analyze payroll data the way you want to see it. Setting up employees in CenterPoint Payroll is made easy with the ability to copy from existing information. Additional employee information can be set up and stored in the system, such as employee photos, and links to forms such as the resume, W-4, or any form you choose. Unlimited user-definable fields can be set up for tracking any information you decide is necessary for your company.

Employee Pay Setup

CenterPoint Payroll is ideal for employers who need to pay employees in a variety of ways...at different rates during the day or season, or from one job to the next. Each paycheck can have a combination of multiple piecework and hourly rates, with work group and project tracking. A wide variety of deduction and earnings codes are available to use, or you can set up an unlimited amount of your own codes to pay your employees they way you choose.

  • System comes with pre-defined deduction codes that can be used with no user setup required. Unlimited user-defined deduction codes can be added to the software supplied list.
  • Modify pre-defined codes to fit your company, or define your own.
  • Add, edit, delete, and list deductions from one menu.
  • Deductions can be scheduled to be taken at specific times. For example, a deduction that is taken only on the first and third checks of each month.
  • Multiple calculation capabilities: one time, percentage, flat amount, etc.
  • Deduction limits can be set by check, month, quarter, annual or lifetime.
  • Retirement plans can handle both employee deduction limits and employer deduction limits.
  • Effective dates (date when the deduction will start to be used) are available so deductions can be set up in advance and take effect at a specified date.
Earnings Codes
  • System comes with pre-defined earning codes that can be used with no user setup required. Unlimited user-defined earning codes can be added to the software-supplied list.
  • Modify pre-defined codes to fit your company, or define your own.
  • Add, edit, delete, and list deductions from one menu.
  • Effective dates (date when the earning will start to be used) are available so earnings can be set up in advance and be available for use on a specified date.

Paying Employees

Paying your employees becomes an easy process in CenterPoint Payroll! Choose to enter detailed timesheets, or easily enter details by using pay defaults. Pull pay data directly from most time clocks into the CenterPoint System. Select hourly employees separate from hourly employees, bi-weekly versus weekly, and more. Save time by copying previous pay runs and use it as a starting point for a current pay run. You can even have more than one pay run in process at the same time, for example pay runs for separate departments. With CenterPoint Payroll, paying employees becomes a simplified process, making payday a lot less stressful for you!

Time ClocksMost time clocks that can create an export file can be used to gather employee pay information and import it into CenterPoint.
Time FormatsYou can enter the actual hours worked or you can enter a start and stop time and let the software calculate the actual hours worked based on those times.
Work Group Time SheetsIf you have several employees who are paid for the same work (common in agricultural situations where several employees work as a "group" doing piecework labor), you can easily select the employees in the group and enter time sheets once and let the software copy the time entries to all selected employees.
Minimum Wage CalculationsIf you have piecework employees, you have a need to verify you are paying at least minimum hourly wage to those employees. This software has the processes you need to calculate and adjust pay, if necessary, to meet those requirements.
Shift Differential PaySystem has unlimited capability to handle various employee shifts and the differential pay associated with those shifts.
Employee Selection/Processing
Entry MethodsEmployee pay can be entered as totals for the pay period (the most common method) or daily time entries can be made and the software will summarize them for the pay period.
Quick Selection of Specific Employees to PayEasily select salaried employees separate from hourly employees or select only employees with time clock entries or select only those employees paid bi-weekly versus weekly. Multiple selection criteria available.
Multiple Check Runs Active at OnceYou can have more than one pay run in process at the same time. For example, start entering pay for the next pay period before processing the current payroll.
Copy Previous Pay RunsEasily copy a previous pay run and use it as a starting point for a new pay run. This allows you, for example, to very quickly select the same employees paid the previous week.
Salary Time AllocationIf you have salaried employees whose pay you want to allocate to several departments or projects, you can easily do so with the Salary Time Allocation feature.
Vacation / Sick Time CalculationsVery powerful vacation and sick time calculation and tracking is included in the software. Award vacation on a pay period or other basis using years worked or actual hours worked as a criteria for awarding vacation and sick time.

When you are ready to generate your forms, the software will fill in all the necessary information for you. You can then choose to print them on blank paper, or eFile the forms directly from the software. Annual 940 Form

Payroll data easily transfers to the annual 940 Form (Employer's Annual Federal Unemployment FUTA Tax Return) where it can be reviewed, edited, and then either printed on plain paper or eFiled.

Quarterly Federal Tax (941) Form

Payroll data easily transfers to the quarterly 941 Form (Employer's Quarterly Federal Tax Return) where it can be reviewed, edited, and then either printed on plain paper or eFiled. System transfers only the non-agricultural employee wages to the form, making it possible to keep both agricultural and non-agricultural employees in the same database.

Annual Federal Ag Tax (943) Form

Payroll data easily transfers to the annual 943 Form (Employer's Annual Federal Tax Return for Agricultural Employees) where it can be reviewed, edited, and then either printed on plain paper or eFiled. Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act

CenterPoint Payroll lets you take advantage of two tax benefits that are available to employers who hire previously unemployed workers. These tax benefits are part of the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act. Within employee setup, a field is available to track which employees are eligible for the HIRE Act.

W-2 Form

Payroll data easily transfers to the W-2 forms where it can be reviewed, edited, and then either printed or eFiled. A complete fulfillment option is available that includes the printing and mailing of the W-2 to your employees.

1099 Forms

Print or eFile major 1099 forms including 1099-MISC, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, and 1099-PATR.

State Forms

Over 200 State Forms Available

Over 200 State Forms (Tax Deposit, Unemployment and New Hire reports) are available for printing or eFiling. The data for these reports is easily transferred from payroll to the form where it can be reviewed, modified as needed, and then printed on plain white paper ready to submit or eFile.

Electronic Filing

Complete State and Federal Fulfillment

An option is available for both W-2 and 1099 printing that allows you to eFile the State and Federal information and then have the employee copy of the form printed and mailed to the employee by the same process used for eFiling.
