What's New in CenterPoint® Payroll Version 21
Version 21
General Payroll
- System
- CenterPoint has been upgraded to Microsoft .NET 10 (LTS), providing a more modern, secure, and stable platform with long-term support, improved performance, and extended security updates. This upgrade ensures continued alignment with current Microsoft standards.
- Help > Ask Vern... - Access Help quickly with a new Ask Vern top-level menu option and toolbar icon and a Help > Ask Vern AI Help menu option that launches Vern AI Help in your browser, without leaving the application, for streamlined support and improved access to resources.
- Red Wing Software Email Service (Beta) - Adds a new, fully managed email delivery option for CenterPoint, enabling customers to send transactional emails, such as invoices and statements, through a secure Red Wing Software–hosted service instead of a customer-configured SMTP server. To enable and subscribe to this service, contact Red Wing Software Sales for assistance.
- File
- Backup > Full Backup or Restore > Full Restore - Offers a streamlined way to protect your CenterPoint data by allowing you to back up and restore your entire system, including your database, file repository, and Aatrix history in one process.
- Setup
- Employees > Taxes tab - For new employees, the New 2020 W-4 On File check box is now selected by default.
- Accounts > Accounts > ACH/Direct Deposit tab - Updated the Company Entry Description for NACHA compliance. The Company Entry Description in Advanced Settings is no longer used, and ACH and Direct Deposit files now use the Description fields on the ACH/Direct Deposit tab. Existing values are retained, and blank Direct Deposit descriptions default to “PAYROLL.”
- Payroll Details
- Earnings - If an earning is used in an open pay run or time sheets, the earning type can now be changed.
- Leave - Added a Display Balance to Employees check box to control which leave balances appear on pay stubs, in the Employee Portal dashboard, or in the Leave Balances on the Time Clock > Request Time Off page. The check box is selected by default; when cleared, the leave balance is not displayed to employees.
- Default Pay Runs - Users can now define one or multiple standard (default) pay runs to copy from. This simplifies payroll entry by reducing manual steps by focusing only on exceptions such as employees with leave or non-standard hours, helping you process payroll faster and more consistently.
- Processes
- Pay Employees
- 6. Print Checks tab - Added a new final review step that displays before payroll is posted. You can verify critical details such as pay dates, bank accounts, employee counts, and totals at a glance, helping confirm accuracy and reduce the need to void or reprocess payroll.
- Enter Pay tab - Added a message when overriding Social Security or Medicare taxes to warn of potential tax implications and W-2 filing issues.
- Time Sheets -The Time Import button will now only default to the CenterPoint Time Clock if the Employee Portal is configured to use Time Clock, improving the experience for users who import time from outside time systems.
- Banking > Bank Reconciliation
- Bank reconciliations are now quicker and easier. Copy existing statements, customize columns, switch between active or all companies/funds and accounts, and use improved selection options for clearing items to save time.
- Reports
- Federal & State Payroll Forms & Reports - Federal/State Tax Forms (Aatrix) no longer requires a separate registration. Access will remain active as long as a current Customer Care Membership is maintained.
- Fixes
- Processes
- Pay Employees > Prepayment Reports - Users will now remain in the correct pay run after running prepayment reports, even when working across year-end boundaries and filtering for "This Year".
- Time Sheets - Resolved an issue where pressing the space bar while entering time sheets caused unexpected behavior when both Notes and Account Distribution fields were displayed in the grid.
CenterPoint Web Services
- Fixes
- CenterPoint Employee Portal - Leave balances will no longer display for inactive Leave types.
