CenterPoint Payroll Changes and Enhancements (Version 3)
- New Reports
- Hours Worked (Since Raise) - This report can be used
for hours-based raises. It allows you to track hours for specific earnings as of
the last date an employee received a raise. This report works in conjunction with
the Setup > Employees > Employment tab where you enter the Last Raise Date
(this date will default to the current system date) and the Hours to Next Raise.
- Hours Worked (Since Hire) – This report can be used
for hours-based raises. It allows you to track hours for specific earnings as of
the employee's hire date. This report works in conjunction with the Setup > Employees
> Employment tab where you enter the Hire Date.
- Employee Pay Register (Summary) – Use the Employee
Pay Register Summary to list the summary information on each employee for one or
more pay runs. For example, if Sam Apple has been paid in two successive payroll
periods, his payroll information for both pay runs will be listed in one summarized
total.
- Employee Pay Register (Detail) - Use the Employee
Pay Register Detail to list the detail information on each employee check for one
or more pay runs. For example, if Sam Apple has been paid in two successive payroll
periods, his payroll information for the first period will be listed under the first
check date and second period payroll information will be listed under the second
check date.
- Employee Prepayment (Summary) - Use the Employee Prepayment
Summary to list and verify unposted pay run information in summary for one or more
pay runs.
- Employee Prepayment (Detail) - Use the Employee Prepayment
Detail to list and verify unposted pay run information in detail on each employee
check for one or more pay runs.
- Reports
- When entering dates on reports, the second date will default to the first date entered.
This will affect all reports that have a date range selection available.
- State Unemployment Tax by Employee - Added an Hours
Worked column as an available column. This column can be added to the report
by modifying or creating a variation of the standard report.
- Paying payroll liabilities will no longer result in negative invoices displaying
on the Vendor Aging report in some situations.
- New Transaction Screen - Create Direct Deposit Prenote
- This option will allow you to create direct deposit prenotes (for any employee
with a prenote or active deposit status set) without having to first create and
process a pay run. Once the prenote file is generated, the status of each selected
employee will be changed from Checking Prenote or Savings Prenote to Checking Deposit
or Savings Deposit respectively if needed.
- Preferences
- Added the ability to set the number of checks, payroll checks or invoices that you
want to print. There is a new Number of Copies option available within the
printing preferences for checks and payroll checks.
- Added a new option to the Payroll Check Printing section called Print Direct
Deposit Amounts. This option will print the net checking and savings deposit
amounts on direct deposit advices.
- Pay Employees
- Speed Improvements - Improved system performance in
the following areas: Up to 75% faster to switch employees on the Pay tab, made it
faster to switch to the Process tab, made it faster to switch to the Pay tab.
- Earnings on the Pay tab in Pay Employees will now be sorted by the earning name.
- You will now be able to process and post a pay run if an earning is set to track
hours, is visible on a pay run and is not being used in the pay run.
- In rare instances, you will no longer receive a generated transactions would
not balance message when processing specific pay runs.
- Setup
- Employees - Added an Effective Date field to
the Earnings Update screen. This screen is displayed if you update your earning
rates using the base rates on the setup of Employees on the Earnings tab.
- Deductions & Benefits - The category, employee
method and employer method can now be modified after a deduction or benefit has
been saved. Prior to this update, once you saved a deduction or benefit, these fields
were disabled.
- Create Direct Deposit Files/Create Direct Deposit Prenote
- The information entered on the Create Direct Deposit and Create Direct Deposit
Prenote screen will now be recalled automatically the next time you enter the screen.
For example, the File Path and Name will be remembered.
- Timesheets/Workgroup Timesheets and Salary Time Allocations
- The Production Center Detail field is now available for selection within Timesheets,
Workgroup Timesheets and Salary Time Allocations.
- Vacation/Leave - If you are using fixed rate leave
and accrue fixed rate leave when you process and post your pay run, the Calculate
Leave screen will now close after clicking Save.
- Time Import
- Time Import has been updated to accept import files that have some fields with quotes
surrounding and others without quotes surrounding. This applies to import definitions
set up with a text qualifier.
- If an employee has a local tax set up, it will now default on imported time.
- Backup - Updated the backup process to work properly
in a networked environment.
- Registration - If you registered your system with
a name that includes an “&”, you will no longer receive a Failed to load application
: an error occurred while parsing entity name. Line 3, position 26 message.
- 2008 Tax Table Update - 2008 Tax Tables update for
the state of Idaho.
- 2008 Tax Table Update - 2008 Tax Tables as of 02/29/08.
Utah tax calculation change.
- Transactions
- Pay Employees - If using direct deposit and an employee
is set to "Prenote" a paper check will now print instead of a direct deposit advice.
- Pay Employees - Updated the Washington L&I tax
to calculate according to the updated Washington state guidelines.
- Check Printing - Added an option to not print an overflow
report when printing payroll or liability checks.
- Check Printing - The employee middle initial will
now print on payroll checks.
- Check Printing - If a line of credit account is used
when paying a liability check, duplicate invoices will no longer display on the
check stub.
- Check Printing - You will no longer receive an error
message if you try to print a liability check for a vendor that has a very long
name.
- Time Import - If a date is not included in a time
export file, the time import process will now display a Date field that can be changed.
All time import records will be assigned to the selected date.
- Leave Adjustments - The available fields in this screen
will now be formatted based off your Payroll General preference settings for hours.
- Leave Adjustments - You will now be able to enter
a leave adjustment for an employee who has less than a year of service. This only
would happen if a beginning balance record was created for an employee, but no leave
calcuations had taken place.
- Calculate Paid Leave - The used and available vacation
balances will now update properly if your pay run crosses a year.
- Reports
- General Ledger - Added a new default filter called
"Include Period Subtotals" to the Report Selections. This option is a yes/no option
that will turn the subtotal by period on or off for each account.
- General Ledger - Added a new default filter called
"Line Detail Account" to Report Selections.
- General Ledger and General Ledger Account Activity
- Bolded the header row and total row for each account to make the report easier
to read.
- General Ledger and General Ledger Account Activity
- Added columns to sort data by account type and account category. Changed the default
sort for both reports to Account Type Sequence, Account Category Sequence, Account
Number, and Account Name.
- Payroll Check Register - You will no longer receive
a time out error if you try to run this report for a pay run with a large number
of employees.
- Gross Wages - Redefined what "Gross Wages" means in
the system. This change updated how gross wages are reported in Federal and State
Tax Forms and on the Federal Unemployment Tax by Employee report.
- Setup
- Employees - The Earnings and Deduction lists are now
sorted alphabetically on the Earnings and Deductions & Benefits tabs.
- Employees - It will no longer be possible to accidentally
copy the base rate from one employee to another when navigating between employees.
This would only happen in very rare circumstances.
- Employers - If you have multiple employers that use
the same Worker's Compensation Class, the class will only be available once on the
Payroll tab.
- Leave - Expanded the Wait Period field for hours to
include 4 digits instead of 3.
- Time Import - A fixed value over 99 can now be entered
when creating a fixed width time import definition.
- System - Added the ability to copy and paste the date
from the first date control to the second date control. This functionality is available
on any date control that has a From and To date available.
- Federal & State Payroll Forms & Reports -
You will no longer receive a time out error in some rare cases when trying to run
some Aatrix reports.
- Online Support Services
- Check For CenterPoint Updates - If the latest CenterPoint
Update Center has been installed, the CenterPoint installation pieces will now silently
install. This change allows the updates to run without the user having to answer
specific installation questions.
- Check for Federal/State Tax Forms Updates - You will
no longer receive an error if you check for Aatrix updates from the Help menu. Note:
You are automatically notified that updates are available when you run your Federal/State
tax forms.
- Tax Updates - Tax table updates will now be available
for download within the program from Online Support Services\Check For CenterPoint
Updates. Note: The available tax updates will not display in the application until
the current tax update install has been completed. Contact out Customer Support
department with questions.
- Security - A security policy can now be set that will
restrict users from gaining access to transaction screens through Transaction Search.
- Reports and Posting Cash Balances - Updated the cash
posting process to handle several different transaction scenarios. Prior to version
3.7, it was possible to make your Cash Balance Sheet go out-of-balance with certain
unique transactions. Note: This does not affect a stand-alone payroll installation.
- Calculate Paid Leave - Leave calculations will now
take into consideration the employee percent setup on the leave tab for a specified
employee.
- Pay Employees - You will no longer receive an error
if you try to import timesheets that have local taxes and vacation entered on them.
- Preferences / Interfaces - Batches created from the
CenterPoint Payroll to TurningPoint interface are created as recurring batches.
- Timesheets
- If you import timesheets and view the accounting tab on the detail button, the default
local tax will now default if the employee has the tax set up.
- If you entering vacation/pto time in timesheets and import into Pay Employees, the
employees available balance will now be updated.
- Pay Employees - Corrected an extremely rare "Timeout
Expired" message that can be displayed if you click between the Select and Pay tab
in some databases.
- Pay Employees - Federal and State unemployment were
not calulating for the first pay run of 2008.
- E2 Export - The assigned direct deposit advice number
will now be included in the E2 export file.
- 2008 Tax Table Update - 2008 Tax Tables as of 12/10/07.
- Federal & State Payroll Form and Reports - Added
an option to print W-2s for Non-Agricultural or Agricultural employees.
- Pay Invoices Due - Liability invoices created from
pay runs will now be split between Non-Agricultural and Agricultural invoices. Invoices
are split depending upon the types of employees on the pay runs.
- Reports
- Payroll Check Register - Added a Payroll Check Register
that will include all payroll checks and liabilities paid that were associated to
a pay run.
- Leave Balances - The Category Abbreviation column
will now print the heading instead of the first employees abbreviation.
- Aatrix Reporting - The employer paid taxes will now
show as payments on the 940 or SUTA reports.
- Aatrix Reporting - If an employee is marked as an
Agricultural Employee (Form 943) on the Payroll tab of Setup/Employees, they will
now be included in the W-2s. Previously employees marked this way were not included
in the W-2 process
- Trial Balance - You will no longer receive a "Specified
cast is not valid." message if you try to run the report in Stand Alone Payroll.
- Transactions
- Pay Employees - You will no longer receive an "Import
Failed" message if you import time into Pay Employees in some rare situations.
- Pay Employees - The employee tax total for each employee
will no longer round in some situations. If the payrun had an earning that had a
flat tax associated with it, the system could have rounded up or down one penny.
- Timesheets/Time Import - Added functionality to warn
or notify the user if there are specific issues with a time import file. If an employee
is not set up properly and the time can not be imported, you will now receive a
log showing what failed.
- Pay Employees - If you enter negative employee benefits
or employer taxes on a pay run, the proper journal entries are now created.
- Setup
- Employees/Leave tab - The lookup control for the earning
will now only show earnings that have been set up on that employee, not all earnings
for the employer.
- Employees/Leave tab - The leave fields will now display
the number of decimal places set in preferences. The setting is in File/Preferences/Payroll
General.
- Leave - The leave table entry will now allow the number
of decimal place settings set in preferences. The setting is in File/Preferences/Payroll
General.
- Calculate Paid Leave - Calculate based on eligibility
anniversary date with a yearly method is now calculating accrued leave hours correctly
- Employees - You will no longer receive a "Failed to
Save Record" message in some rare cases when editing and saving employees.
- Preferences - You can now set Payroll - Check Printing
at the application and database level.
- Preferences
- Security - Added policies to set up menu level security
on the application.
- Reports
- Federal and State Unemployment Tax - The Federal and
State Unemployement Tax reports will now display the correct taxable wages and wages
over the limit when run for a specific time period.
- Aatrix Reporting State Unemployment - The State Unemployment
reports will now display the correct wages and wages over the limit for specific
quarters. Note: If you have had this problem, please contact customer support for
a solution.
- Payroll Register Detail - Added an option to the Payroll
Register Detail report that will allow you to suppress the check detail. This allows
you to create a much shorter version of the Payroll Register Detail report.
- Federal Tax Withheld - The Federal Tax Withheld report
now reports the employee share of social security and medicare, not the employer
and employee total combined.
- Federal Tax Withheld - The Federal Tax Withheld report
will now show the correct social security wages if the employee is over the limit.
- Payroll Prepayment Detail - You will no longer receive
the following message when running the Payroll Prepayment Detail report: ambiguous
column name abbreviation.
- Payroll Register Summary - Modifed the default report
to display the following columns: Pay Date, Check or Advice #, Total Hours, Gross
Earnings, Employee Taxes, Deductions, Net Pay, Employer Taxes.
- Setup
- Start-up Pay - You are now able to edit a start up
pay after it has been saved. In previous versions you could not edit start-up pay.
Note: It is recommended that you enter and finalize your start-up pay prior to entering
any new pay runs.
- Earnings - Added a Multiplier field to all overtime
earning codes. This multiplier makes it easy to update your overtime rates. The
multipler can be entered or changed at the earning, employer or employee level.
- Employee Base Rate Earning Update - Easily update
all your employee earnings by entering a base hourly, salary or piece rate. Prior
to saving you can see the base rate, mutiplier, current rate and new rate.
- Employers Worker's Compensation - On the Employer
/ Taxes tab, we added a Use Overtime Premium Wages (Base Rate * Multiplier) and
User Base Rate option for setting up how you calculate Worker's Compensation. This
will allow you to report and calculate based off of your state guidelines.
- Employees - Added options on the Payroll tab of Employee
setup to mark an employee as H-2A and report the wages on the W-2 or 1099 Miscellaneous.
- System
- Network Install - When trying to add a database to
a client workstation in a network environment, you will no longer receive the following
message: The database is either missing or corrupt.
- Address Entry - You are now able to enter a foreign
address for companies, employers and employees.
- File / Export / Generic Export - Added export options
that allow you to set up specific export files. For example, YMCA exports.
- User Defined Reports - Added a Lacerte Interface user-defined
report. This user- defined report can be used to interface with Lacerte tax software.
- CenterPoint Payroll to TurningPoint Interface - Added
the CenterPoint Payroll to TurningPoint interface that allows you to post general
ledger entries to the TurningPoint General Ledger.
- Reports
- Audit Printed Checks - Added the Audit Printed Checks
report. This report displays the history of each check that was physically printed
through the program.
- Employee Earning and Earning Detail - Added the Employee
Earning and Earning Detail reports. These reports will display detailed information
about the reported earnings on pay runs.
- Worker's Compensation Summary - Added a Worker's Compensation
Summary report. Also added a variation of the Worker's Compensation Detail report
that reports the employee share of Worker's Compensation.
- Employee Deductions & Benefits - This report will
now sort by employee last name/first name by default.
- Payroll Register Detail - The Payroll Register Detail
report will now show only pay runs with a posted status. Previously the report displayed
open, processed and posted pay runs.
- Payroll Prepayment Detail - You will no longer receive
the following message when you run the Payroll Prepayment Detail report: Invalid
column name Employee First Last Name.
- Tax Liability - The Tax section in the Report Selections
area will now show only the taxes that are set up in the current database.
- Filters - Updated reports to include more report filters.
This will allow for better reporting.
- Pay Employees
- Negative Deductions - Pay Employees will now allow
the entry of negative deductions.
- Leave - For leave types other than fixed, the used
and available leave will now be updated if the Accrue Fixed Rate Leave checkbox
is not selected.
- Pay Invoices Due - Added overflow functionality to
the printing of liability checks. If the number of invoices being paid on the check
do not fit on the stub, an overflow report will print.
- Preferences - Added a new preference to display the
accounts in Setup / Accounts / Accounts in a list instead of grouped by account
type. The preference can be found from File / Preferences / Accounts / Account Settings.
Set the Display As Flat List option as Yes to display the list or No to group by
Account Type.
- System
- Export/Import Path - The last used export and import
path will now save the last used path. For example, if you export a report to the
C drive, the next time you export a report the default path will default to C. This
change has been implemented system-wide.
- Sample Databases - The sample database attach process
has been updated so backup files are unzipped and attached. This makes it easier
to install and use the sample databases.
- New Database - Updated the new database creation process
so that it is always successful when copying from another database.
- Backup - Fixed an issue with backup file size on the
Windows Vista Operating System. In previous versions, the backup size grew each
time a backup was performed.
- Restore - Updated the restore process so it will be
fully functional in a Citrix or Terminal Services environment.
- Filters - Have been expanded in payroll setup items
and payroll reports. The expansion of the filters allows for more reporting options.
- Red Wing Payroll to CenterPoint Payroll Migration
- Employees will now display in Setup / Employees after completing a migration process.
- Navigation Buttons - Added Alt + navigation options
to the navigation buttons.
- Preferences
- Check Printing/Preferences - The LT103 check format
has been added as an option for printing checks. The LT103 format has the check
on the top with two stubs below. This preprinted form type is compatible with the
Perception top check (LT103).
- Preferences/Check Printing Settings - Added a description
box below the form type that explains the selected form.
- Setup
- Employer Setup Wizard - A wizard has been added that
will help setup the employer. This wizard helps in setting up taxes, earnings, deductions
and accounts. The wizard will be launched the first time a database is opened, or
when the New button is clicked on the List tab in Setup/Employers.
- Earnings, Deductions, Taxes Default Accounts - When
setting up earnings, deductions or taxes, you must now enter a default account that
will be used when you process a pay run. This change makes setup and processing
of a pay run easier.
- Earnings, Deduction/Benefits, Leave - When a user
adds a new Earning, Deduction/Benefit or Leave item to a database it will be added
(checked) for all employers in that database.(Note: This is a general payroll requirement.
It does not pertain to the wizard discussed above).
- Employers - If you create a new employer from the
Employer Setup button in Setup/Companies, the address will be copied from the company
to the employer setup.
- Earnings, Deductions/Benefits, Leave - Removed the
combine functionality from the Earnings, Deductions/Benefits, and Leave screens.
- Transactions
- Transaction Search - An Entry Screen option has been
added to the Results tab. This option was added to make it easier to find transactions
that were created from specific transaction screens.
- Pay Invoices Due - Added the ability to change the
vendor on an unpaid invoice. A right-click option has been added that allows the
vendor to be changed to a different vendor to be paid.
- Liability Check Printing - Added overflow functionality
to check printing. When printing Accounts Payable checks, an overflow statement
will be printed if there are more than 12 lines on the check stub.
- Pay Employees - Added Alt + navigation options to
the buttons on the Pay tab of Pay Employees.
- Reports
- Three new reports have been added, the three reports are: Deduction and Benefits
Liabilities, Employee Deductions and Benefits, and Retirement Plan Contributions.
- State Tax Forms - Updated the Nebraska state unemployment
wages so they transfer to Aatrix properly.
- Payroll Register Detail - Will now sort properly if
a report variation has been created that sorts by abbreviation.
- Payroll Register Detail - The report total for benefits
has been updated and will now show the total for all employees included on the report.
- Reports - Added an H-2A Journal report and the ability
to print hours offered on payroll check stubs.
- Reports - The default for the employee filter has
been changed for all applicable reports to “All“.
- Setup - Once an earning, deduction, tax or leave item
has been used in a payrun, it can not be removed from the employer, employee or
setup. An earning, deduction, tax or leave item can be marked as inactive from employer,
employee or setup.
- Restore Database - Modified the layout and functionality
of the Restore Database screen to make it easier to use.
- Sample Database - A new updated sample database is
now included with this release.
- Tax Tables - The Ohio Unemployement Wage base has
been updated to $9,000 from $9,500.
- Reports - Payroll Register - You will no longer get
an error generating the report where multiple companies exist for a single employer.
- Names - Updated the names/employee records so names
that are set as employees through Setup - Names display in Setup - Employees.
- E2 Export - The text “PAYRLL“ will now print in the
first journal entry portion of the export file.
- Timesheets - Updated the Timesheets screen to allow
decimal entry based on the number of decimals set in the payroll preference.
- Pay Employees - You are now able to select a line
of credit account for a bank account.
- Employees - If you combine one employee into another
employee, the history from the original employee will now transfer to the new combined
employee.
- Earning Categories - If you set up a new earning category
with the type as Payroll Advance, it will automatically default to exclude taxes.
- Registration - Updated the registration process to
show the correct number of remaining days if the application is in trial mode.
- Reports - Updated the Payroll Tax Data reports Report
Selections filters. Employee was displaying on the filter twice. These report filters
will now display Employer and Employee.
- Reports - Corrected an issue if you preview a report
from the Quicklist and try to save a variation.
- Reports - Report variations will now be saved if you
close the database and reopen.
- Names and Employees - Modified the combine process
for Names and Employees so they are combined and updated properly in all situations.
