Q: When is the best time to move to a Windows®-based program? A: Some businesses wait for their slowest period to make the conversion. It is not necessary to wait for end-of-month, end-of-quarter or end-of-year because all of your data will convert.
Q: Is moving Red Wing DOS data to a Windows-based program difficult? A: The key to a successful data transfer and migration is preparing your DOS data prior to the migration. The process to migrate data can be completed on your own and detailed instructions are provided to guide you through the seven step process. Many companies choose to have a Red Wing Software technician complete the process for them. By sending your data through our secure FTP site or overnight a copy through the mail, we can transfer the information for you. Q: Do I have to transfer all of my data? A: The preparation process does include removing all but the last three years of historical information from your DOS data. It is strongly recommended you only transfer the last three years of data. You can also choose to migrate all history or just the master files. For example, master files are your customers and history is the payments and invoices attached to that customer. Since the migration is completed by module (G/L, A/P, A/R, etc.) you can determine if you want the master files or history by module as well. For example, only transfer master files for A/P and both master files and history for A/R. The data conversion within the modules must be completed all at the same time. For example, you cannot transfer your G/L now and transfer A/P two months later.
Q: How long does the conversion take? A: The larger your data set and the more history you convert, the longer the process takes. Depending on the amount of data in Red Wing DOS, the conversion can most likely be completed within a day or even hours for each database.
Q: What is the learning curve after the data transfer has occurred? A: Once the conversion is complete, the learning curve is greatly minimized through training seminars and the on-line help in the system. Our technicians can help improve your efficiency and effectiveness in using the software through answering simple how-to questions as well as assisting with complex issues. Q: How many users are available in TurningPoint? A: TurningPoint allows for an unlimited number of user logins and concurrent users are sold individually. Concurrent users determine the number of users at one time and an unlimited number of user logins can be created when you purchase TurningPoint. One user is included with the software.
Q: Can I purchase additional modules or users at a later time? A: Yes. For example, your business only needs G/L and A/R right now with one user. As your business grows you can purchase A/P and additional users to add to the TurningPoint software.**
Q: Will I need to purchase new checks for A/P and Payroll? A: If you are using laser checks for A/P and for Payroll, you can continue to use the same check stock. Q: Can I continue to use my dot matrix printer for multiple part forms? A: It is strongly recommended to use a laser or ink-jet printer with TurningPoint. If you need multiple copies of invoices, sales orders and/or purchase orders, many users print each document multiple times onto collated paper. For example, if you have three part forms, you can purchase paper layered in three different colors and then set the software to print each invoice three times onto the different colored papers.
Q: I am currently enrolled in a Customer Care Membership for my Red Wing DOS, will I receive a credit towards my TurningPoint Membership? A: Yes. We will credit your current Membership in remaining monthly increments and apply it towards a TurningPoint Customer Care Membership.
